Jonesing for Jew Food
Having withdrawal symptoms suffered as a result of not being able to join Mee brothers at P.F. Chang’s this past Wednesday, I was clearly craving some Chinese food. Especially with it being so close to Christmas too! And yes… yes, I will be having Chinese food Christmas Eve.
Take out wonton soup on the Sabbath clearly didn’t fill the void. As if reading my mind, my g/f Mee Wen Dee suggested we go out for Chinese food today for lunch.
For some reason I haven’t gone to this local restaurant yet. The reviews were good… it was recommended by a co-worker Nick-Yee… so today was the day.
We ate at Empire Garden, 1656 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040.
And I must say, Nick-Yee was right. The food was quite good. The ambiance was as tasteful as the food. But, the real winner might have been their Mai Tai’s. With a happy belly and a happy head I can chime in with a recommendation of this fine establishment and I will definitely consider it for take out as well. Their lunch specials are Monday-to-SATURDAY. Bonus Jew Appeal points!!
We ordered two entrees off of the “Today’s Specials” menu, Basil Chicken (chicken and shrimp in a light brown sauce), and Sizzling Seafood Trio (shrimp, scallops, and lobster, served in a succulent sauce). Both dishes were cooked and perfection and served with a lovely flair as the Basil Chicken dish garnished with a pretty looking, very colorful flower.
The review would be incomplete if I didn’t mention that the fried noodles were perhaps the best this Mee has ever tasted.
Did I mention yet that the Mai Tai’s were out of this world?
And lastly, what review is complete without sharing our Fortunes with you?
Toil awhile… ensure awhile… believe always… and never turn back.
You can’t have everything… where would you put it all?
Humbly submitted for your consumption,
