Last night, my Meetup Group, Meet & Eat, and Make New Friends (Nassau County / Western Suffolk County), met for dinner at O Mandarin in Hicksville, NY, to celebrate the Chinese (Lunar) New Year.
We ushered in the Year of the Horse. Gung Hay Fat Choy!! O Mandarin is located at 600 W Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY 11801.

We were treated to a Lion Dance:
O Mandarin was decorated for the Chinese New Year:
The Buddha made sure to get in on the action, too. What a great gesture that any wishes and hopes are being donated to the Nassau County Detectives Foundation!
They were not our waiters!
More Decorations:
Lest I forget, there was food. Lots and lots of food!
Here are some of the dishes that we ordered:
Sichuan Wonton 成都红油抄手 (Pork & Shrimp Wonton | Sichuan Chili Broth | Scallion) – WOW, these were spectacular! They had a real nice kick to them. Not overpowering, and not mind-numbing spicy. But, just right! Order these for sure!
Mongolian Beef 蒙古牛肉 (Scallion | Bell Pepper | Mongolian Brown Garlic Sauce) – The only thing this dish needed was more beef! The beef was off the hook! It melted in your mouth. So good!
Tea Smoked Duck 御膳茶香鸭 (Jasmine Tea Smoked | Shrimp Chips) – Yet another amazing dish! Everything has been cooked to perfection, and this was no exception. The flavor of the skin was smoked to perfection and had a nice, crispy texture. The duck was succulent! Yum! Yum!
Garlic Dry-Rub Ribs 蒜香排骨 (Scallion | Ginger | Onions | Peppers) – Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try one of these. But they looked really good, and definitely something that I will order in the future.
Cabbage with Pork Belly and Chili Peppers – Another absolutely delicious dish!
Speaking on behalf of all who attended, a splendid time was had by all! If you’re looking to make new friends and get to eat at different restaurants, check out the Meet & Eat, and Make New Friends (Nassau County / Western Suffolk County) Meetup Group!
Humbly submitted for your consumption,
