Valentine’s Dinner with Mini Mee at Saaho Village

Where else would I take my little Boo, err Mini Mee aka The Dumpling King, out for dinner on Valentine’s Day but to a Chinese restaurant that served Soup Dumplings.  After Saaho Village teased a picture on Facebook a few days ago of the Soup Dumplings that they recently added to their menu it was the obvious choice!  Saaho Village is located at 69 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck, NY.

Their version of Soup Dumplings is different from other Soup Dumplings we have had before.  The Soup Dumplings are served IN soup!  There are four Soup Dumplings in the order.   Two are topped with caviar (pictured below left), the other two with smelt roe (pictured below right).  Mini Mee wasn’t taken by the gourmet toppings, but I found them most delicious.

Crispy Wok Crepe

Served in a thin crepe which tasted like a buttermilk biscuit, were a few slices of Peking Duck with skin, romaine lettuce, cucumber, and hoisin sauce.  You eat this dish just like you are eating a hamburger.  The Peking Duck was a delicious as any Peking Duck I have ever had anywhere.  I wanted more more more!

The Chinese Quest formally reviewed Saaho Village a few months ago, and you can read out review here.

Humbly submitted for your consumption,

Mee Magnum  (“Chop!  Chop!”)
