“Annie Chan’s” Kosher Chinese Restaurant, Fresh Meadows

Ommm, Chinese Food!  Chinese restaurants.  That is my Happy Place!  When I was forwarded an invitation to attend a Networking Meeting sponsored by the Holistic Chamber of Commerce, I was intrigued.  When I saw that the meeting was being held at a Chinese restaurant, I was sold!  I couldn’t register for the free event fast enough. And, I wasn’t even sure if food was going to be served!

The meeting was held at Annie Chan’s, a Kosher Chinese restaurant located at 190-11 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, NY 11366.  When I walked in I was surprised to see so many people already there!  Though Chinese food, does bring people together.  I was happy to see a bunch of familiar faces.  Friends from my old BNI Bayside, “Elite Synergy” Networking Group, and the Networking King himself, David Gussin.  I was THRILLED when I saw menus at every place setting.  We were going to eat!!  Chinese food!  BONUS!!

Annie Chan’s is Glatt Kosher, under the Supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of Queens.  For those who aren’t familiar with the term “Glatt Kosher”, here’s a rough analogy:  Glatt Kosher is to Kosher as Vegan is to Vegetarian.  We are talking Kosher on the Highest.  That being said, was the Chinese up to snuff?

I went slightly out of my zone.  Normally I will go for Beef with Broccoli at “new” Chinese restaurant.  Or, spareribs.  Of course, that was out of the question, with Annie Chan’s being Glatt Kosher and all that.  I ordered Beef with Snowpeas.  If it was just Kosher, I was pretty confident that the beef would be top notch.  The fact that it was Glatt Kosher, I couldn’t wait to dig in.  And I must say… I LOVED IT!  The beef melted in my mouth like butter.  SO GOOD!  The snow peas were most excellent too.  Lunch was served with Wonton Soup and Fried Rice.  The rice was so so… The soup, ok.  Would I order this dish again? ABSOLUTELY!

The only other dish that I could write about was what one of my form BNI colleague’s who sat next to me ordered.  He had the Spicy Sesame Chicken.  The dish looked fantastic, and he said it was very delicious, and nice and spicy too!  (He loves his spicy Chinese food he said… so I recommended he try Spicy & Tasty in Flushing!)

The bill came with a fortune cookie:

You will be successful in love.

Bottom Line

If you’re in the Queens area, especially near Fresh Meadows, or even Western Nassau County…. OR, if you keep Kosher, I highly recommend checking out Annie Chan’s Glatt Kosher Chinese restaurant!

What’s your happy place?

Humbly submitted for your consumption,
