✈️ Shanghai Bound: The Chinese Quest is Going International!
Fellow Questers,
For over a decade, we’ve faithfully patrolled the culinary territories of Long Island, the five boroughs, and even ventured through the American heartland in search of the perfect General Tso’s Chicken, the crispiest spare rib, and the most exquisite dim sum.
But our world is about to get a whole lot bigger.
We are thrilled, and frankly, a little nervous, to announce that The Chinese Quest is heading to Shanghai!
This isn’t just a food trip; it’s a pilgrimage. Shanghai is a city where traditional Jiangnan cuisine—known for its subtle sweetness and sophisticated flavors—meets the future of Chinese gastronomy. We’re trading our familiar Long Island haunts for the bustling streets and legendary kitchens of one of the world’s greatest food capitals.
🥟 The Mission: Authenticity on the Line
We’re not going for the tourist traps. We’re going to the heart of the matter. Our mission includes:
The Ultimate Soup Dumpling Challenge: We think we know xiaolongbao. Now, we face the masters at places like Jia Jia Tang Bao. Will our standards hold up?
The Pursuit of Hong Shao Rou: Searching for the quintessential, melt-in-your-mouth red-braised pork belly—a dish that defines Old Shanghai comfort.
Michelin Meets Mastery: We’ll be reviewing high-end, innovative dining to see how modern Chinese cuisine pushes the boundaries of flavor and presentation.
Our detailed reviews, honest scores, and maybe a few jet-lagged observations will be coming straight to you. We’re ready to learn, eat, and expand our knowledge of what truly makes Chinese cuisine the best in the world.
Stay tuned for our first dispatch next week! Wish us luck (and strong stomachs)!
