Yet another authentic Chinese restaurant has opened in Great Neck! How exciting!! Wokobowl, Modern Chinese bowls, opened a few months ago at 69 Middle Neck Rd, Great Neck Plaza, NY 11021, and I have been yearning for so long to try it! And I finally got my wish the other day. They have a few tables, but I would classify this as a mostly takeout Chinese restaurant.

Oooh, look to the left as you enter… A koi pond! I love fish!! Nice touch, I must say (so long as their isn’t sushi on the menu! 😉 Spoiler Alert: There isn’t)!!
Looking around. Very modern. Very bright. VERY clean!!
Ok… now what were we here for? Oh yes… FOOD! Hmmm… a short menu, but that’s fine. So long as it’s good. What shall I choose?
I didn’t go with my standard first-time-ordering dish, Beef with Broccoli. Instead, I opted for the General Tso’s Chicken and white rice to go.
Excited to get home with my takeout bag (you caught me! I ordered before I got to the restaurant. So sue me!):

Let’s reveal my review
- The Rice: A little cool (temperature-wise), and a little tasteless (does white rice even have a taste?).
- The Broccoli: I was expecting more. It looks kind of naked (i.e., no sauce). It was, and it wasn’t my cup of tea (or broccoli!).
- The Chicken: Here we go! Yes. Excellent!! Quite a bit different from other General Tso’s chicken chicken I’ve had. This one packed some serious flavor. Nice bite-sized, or almost bite-sized, cubes. Yeah, this was good. And it made me decide on the spot that I’m going to go back soon and try a different dish. Perhaps Beef with Broccoli (I hope the broccoli in that dish is cooked in the same sauce as the beef).
At first glance, the portion was so big that I would easily make three servings of it. But it tasted so good that I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing (yup, that good!), and save some for tomorrow. You always have to have some forlatah (I know auto-correct; that’s not a word, but just go with me on it, ok?)
