Made in Israel – Technological Innovation and Inventions

My prior article regarded the ancient Chinese invention paper.  Today, I’m going to talk about you may not have known, Made in Israel technological innovations and inventions.  My next article is how we can marry these two technological giants together.  It’s not just a love story made in gastronomical heaven, but a story that shows more of the parallels and commonalities between our cultures.

You knew there the connection had to go deeper than food.  Two cultures, Jewish and Chinese, that share a lot of the same values of family, education, productivity, achievement, and devotion to the group.  And when we think  of family we think of food;  And when we think of food we think of Chinese food.

We also share a history of invention.  Great minds DO think alike!  Yesterday we looked at ancient Chinese inventions, and the following video highlights the technological wonder that were “Made in Isreal“.

What is chutzpah?  Chutzpah (pronounced huuts-pah) is a Yiddish word that is used by Jews and non-Jews alike to describe someone who is particularly audacious or has a lot of “guts.” Chutzpah can be used in a variety of ways. You can say someone “had chutzpah” to do something.  It’s shameless audacity; impudence.

Example:

A little old Jewish lady sold pretzels on a street corner for 25 cents each. Every day a young man would leave his office building at lunch time, and as he passed the pretzel stand, he would leave her a quarter, but he never took a pretzel.

And this went on for more then 3 years. The two of them never spoke. One day, as the young man passed the old lady’s stand and left his quarter as usual, the pretzel lady spoke to him.

“Sir, I appreciate your business. You are a very good customer, but I have to tell you that the pretzel price has gone up to 35 cents.”

THAT is chutzpah!
