I love exploring the different food stalls in the lower level of the New World Mall in downtown Flushing, NY. The other day, I was on the hunt for the mysterious (to me) pan-fried soup dumplings. I heard that I could find them down here. I tried to find them once, to no avail, and opted for the potstickers at Yozi. But this time was the charm, and I found them at Chinese Korean Dumplings and Noodles 中韓面食. They are at Stall #30 of the Mall. Entrances to the mall are from Roosevelt Avenue and also from Main Street.
Translation Tip:
中韓面食 translates to Chinese and Korean Noodles and Flour-based Dishes
We have reviewed a few of the stalls in the New World Mall Food Court. You can check them out here.
But today, I was here for this:
Pan-Fried Soup Dumplings!
Pro Tip: These ARE soup dumplings! Really. I swear. Unfortunately, there’s no “nipple” to bite off so that you sip or slurp the soup out first before getting to the meaty center. Soooooo… BE CAREFUL!!
I wish I’d read my own pro tip, which, of course, I posted afterwards, AFTER I had a CRS* moment on the third dumpling, forgetting I took a nice bite, and was rewarded with soup shooting out of the dumpling all over my arm. Embarrassing for sure! Thankfully, I had a windbreaker on, and I was able to wash it all off.
*CRS: Can’t Remember Sh!t
Look at all the pork! YUMMY!!
Bottom Line
These were well worth the hype, and the anticipation to find them, and try them, were well worth my Quest. I loved them! I think you will as well!
Have you tried them? Here, or at another restaurant? If so, please let us know!
