Last week, a new Chinese restaurant, Lucky Dumplings, opened in Great Neck, NY. They are located at 19 Northern Blvd, Great Neck, NY 11021, in the former location of Coco’s Palace. The restaurant is directly across Northern Blvd. from Moonstone Modern Asian Cuisine & Bar. Street parking is available.
Between the grand opening of Lucky Dumplings and the closing of Coco’s Palace, Mochinut Donut occupied the space. But they didn’t last long, and the spot remained vacant for a few years. I was happy to see it reopen as a Chinese restaurant again. I couldn’t wait to check it out.
The interior is modern and simple, with an open view of the kitchen and a few tables. The staff was very warm and welcoming, and the menu was more extensive than I thought it would be, including a variety of scratch-made dumplings, Chinese brisket and tofu, and other traditional dishes like noodles, fried rice, and soups. A link to the menu is provided below.
I was very intrigued to try Sweet Corn & Water Chestnut Pork Wontons. So, I did! What I wasn’t expecting was that it would include a powerful punch. Definitely sinus-clearing. My friends will appreciate this. I enjoyed it, so I can report that it wasn’t over the top. The wontons were HUGE, and were packed with savory goodness. The order was for 10 wontons, and it was more than enough to fill me up and send me home with a very happy belly.
The Grand Opening Special offered 20% off your order. I’m not sure how long that offer will last, but it was nice to see it appear on my bill. I didn’t even know it was offered!
Will I return? Most Definitely. There are quite a few dishes on the menu that I want to try. I suggested it to my fellow Questers, and a future visit may be in the works. Their menu can be viewed online here.
Humbly submitted for your consumption,
