It was nice to assemble the Chinese Quest-minyan for another fun adventure. This evening, our Quest took us to Sweet Wonton House, which is located at 253-25 Northern Blvd, Little Neck, NY 11362. The restaurant recently opened and is a welcome addition to the strip of Chinese restaurants along Northern Boulevard in Little Neck.
A full field of five attended, and it was great to see everyone. A table sat reserved for us, and we were promptly seated. Our server (and owner?), whose name I never caught, was eager to show us his best dishes, so let’s delve right into it.
Here he is, with the magic of AI, packing up a take-out order:
The Entrees
One thing I can say with confidence, the servings ARE huge! You’d better come hungry, or you’d better be prepared to take a lot of leftovers home.
Three Flavored Dumpings with Bone Soup –
I thought this dish was phenomenal. There were so many dumplings in the soup. Just when we thought there were no more, it looked as if we hadn’t even had any. I took advantage of that and helped myself a few times! The dumplings were stuffed to the gills, and the soup was delicious, not overpowering, and definitely not salty. I highly recommend this dish.
Peking Style Pork Chops –
I feel that this was more of a sweet and sour style than Peking-style. The sweetness of this dish overwhelmed the pork chops. There were so many pork chops in the serving! The chops themselves were good. Very few of the pork chops still had the bone in. Aside from the heavy sweetness, they were also a little on the dry side, but edible.

Shrimp Dumplings –
These dumplings were a 💯% homerun! I could have eaten both servings all by myself. I really liked these dumplings. Please make sure they’re included on your order when you dine in or take out.
House Soy Sauce Chicken (Half a Chicken) –
And here we come to a polarizing dish. The chicken is served cold. In this writer’s opinion, they were extremely delicious. Very moist, and they fell right off the bone. However, others disagreed and weren’t fans. All I can say is that I kept taking a piece. Then another. Rinse and repeat. Apparently, your mileage may vary.
Snow Peas Sauteed in Garlic Sauce –
If you know Mee, you know I’m not a big veggie guy. Except when prepared in a wok. And these peas were cooked to perfection. The garlic sauce was spot on. I could have eaten multiple servings. But sharing is caring, and I have four hungry friends to consider. And, I did.
Young Chow Fried Rice –
Some Chinese restaurants overcook their rice. Not Sweet Wonton House. The rice was so light. It’s hard to describe it. It’s almost like it wasn’t there. It was heavenly. However, what it made up for in lightness, it missed on flavor. This dish was rather bland.
When all was said and done, we managed to eat almost everything that we were served. Just one small doggie bag was taken home.
The bill was presented, and we were slightly taken aback; we had expected it to be more than it was. With tax and a healthy tip, it worked out to be $32.00 per Mee.
Our Rating
This tiny Chinese restaurant is not to be overlooked, especially for take-out. The food is very authentic Cantonese cuisine, and the menu is extensive. It may not be your go-to choice for a “fancy” Chinese restaurant. If that’s what you’re looking for, may we suggest LN 1380 and Little Dumpling (and also here), which are both within walking distance of Sweet Wonton House.
Humbly submitted for your consumption,
