Completing the Trifecta at Ramen & Udon in the New World Mall

Three weeks, three “fast-food” Chinese restaurants.  First, it was Panda Express, then MÓGŪ Modern Chinese Kitchen, and yesterday, the trifecta was completed at Ramen & Udon in the New World Mall, located at 136-20 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354.   The payout was well worth it.

There are numerous food options available inside the Food Court at the New World Mall, and I have written articles about some of these food stalls in the past.  To view a list, click here.  But still, I have only tried about 10% of all the Chinese “restaurants” there.  In the comments, please share your recommendations so I can try them.

I have had the pot stickers before from Ramen & Udon, but I wasn’t that hungry and wanted something simple that would hit the spot.  I placed my order, found a seat right in front of the stall, and got lost in my cellphone.  So lost that I didn’t realize they brought the food out to me.  That was a first.  I liked it!  Thank you!  謝謝! (Xièxiè, pronounced, hmmm, umm… just go to Google Translate for the pronunciation, and speak like a native).

The Pot Stickers were fried to perfection.  Not greasy at all!  Pour on a little sauce, snap open the chopsticks, and then have at it.  You’ll love these.  Especially when washed down with a can of Coca-Cola.  I promise!

The deed was done, and like Pavlov’s Dog, I immediately craved some Carvel Ice Cream.  I might have even drooled a little bit at the thought.  Probably not literally.  Just sayin’!  Where’s that darn phone of mine when I need it.  Found it.  Darned!  Very spotty internet service in the Food Court.  The receipt did have the credentials for the Wi-Fi, but the SSID was written in Chinese, and all the SSID’s that displayed on my phone were in English. 

I semi-patiently waited to go outside and get a signal so I could get my Carvel fix.  16 minutes to the closest location in College Point.  I clicked go, and off I went to the Carvel Ice Cream parlor at 15-21 College Point Blvd, Flushing, NY 11356.

Once I arrived and luckily found street parking, my ordering decision was easy, as I was feeling like a real pig.  Aside from being on a Chinese restaurant heater, I have also become addicted to Chocolate shakes.  Carvel shakes are top-notch.  But, then again, so are Baskin-Robbins and Smashburger shakes.  But when pairing with Chinese food, nothing can compare to Carvel.

At this point, I was feeling sufficiently bloated.  The challenge now was not falling asleep on the way home.  Have no fear, I made it home safely.
