Woke up to a chill in the house, some snow on the ground, and I said to myself, “No!  No!  No!”.  Baby it’s cold outside.  I want some yummy in my tummy and a little fire in my belly.  Most of all, I don’t want to go out!  I don’t even want to open the door for the Chinese food delivery man (or woman)!

Nothing warms like you a hot bowl of soup.  Nothing!  But, I’m not a big soup fan.  So, what’s a man to do?  Like the guy to the right, I don’t always drink soup, but when I do, you know, it is going to be Wonton Soup!

Fire up the internet (another way to stay warm, but of course, that’s a figurative, and not literal expression), search for a good soup recipe.  And as usual, Allrecipes.com didn’t let me down.  Praying I had all the ingredients I needed in my pantry, I set everything out, fired up the stove, and thanks to their recipe for Wonton Soup, I made the following:

SunnyDaysNora

“Slightly spicy variation of wonton soup. Cooking the wontons in water rather than broth helps keep the broth clear. Either fresh or frozen wontons can be used.”  Perfect to warm you up on days like this!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, chile-garlic sauce, and salt in a large pot over medium heat
  2. Bring to a simmer and cook until hot, about 10 minutes.
  3. While the broth simmers, bring water to a boil in a separate pot.
  4. Cook wontons in boiling water until heated through, about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from water with a slotted spoon and add to the soup.

Enjoy!
