What’s in a Name?
About one year ago, I joined a gym on Robbins Lane in Syosset. Coming home one day, I noticed a Chinese restaurant on Jericho Turnpike called Tao. It looked pretty good from the outside, although the critiques on the internet speak otherwise. Within one year, this restaurant has changed its name four times. It went from Tao to Dao, to Ao, to Hao.
Does anyone know what is going on here?
I have a few ideas:
1) These are four brothers taking turns having their names on the marquee
2) The owners are trying to stay one step ahead of the tax man
3) It is a Chinese communist spy ring sending back coded messages to the Motherland
4) The last three new owners were too cheap to pay for a brand new sign, so they decided to keep the last two letters of the restaurant the same
5) Tao in Chinese means “A darn good restaurant”, Dao in Chinese means “A really darn good restaurant”, Ao in Chinese means “A really, really darn good restaurant, and Hao in Chinese means “This is the best freakin Chinese food on the planet”
