What Makes a GREAT Chinese Restaurant Great?

On The Chinese Quest, our mission is to find the best Chinese restaurant on Long Island and in New York City. But what makes a Chinese restaurant the best? What makes a Chinese restaurant great?

Every time that we review a Chinese restaurant we’re always measuring it on seven different metrics. Over the years we’ve adjusted how we weigh each one of those metrics in order to come up with a composite score to compare one Chinese restaurant against another.

Great-Chinese-Restaurant

Apparently, this Chinese restaurant in London is SO great (it must be true, right?  I assume that they couldn’t use the name otherwise), that they had to erect a barricade to keep the crowds at bay!

Amongst ourselves, we have our own ideas of what makes a Chinese restaurant great, much less be the best. But that is our interpretation of what makes a Chinese restaurant great. We want to make sure that we are in tune with all of our readers. So periodically we like to go out and get your ideas of how you rate Chinese restaurants. What factors do you consider? How do you weigh each of those factors? And then we’ll take everything into consideration and, perhaps, adjust our scoring system to reflect what people think in general as to what makes a Chinese restaurant great.

When you go out to eat Chinese, what factors do you consider when choosing a restaurant?  We’re sure you consider all of them, but when it comes down to choosing between alternatives, which is the ONE most important factor to you?

The Poll

Please answer this one question poll that will help us to identify the most important thing that you consider when you review a Chinese restaurant:

Your answers may help us adjust the criteria, or metrics, that we use, and the weight we apply to each when calculating our Rating of each Chinese restaurant that we review.

We also encourage you to elaborate on your answers by posting a comment. Please take a moment to post some comments down below.  That way we will get a much clearer understanding behind the option that you chose, but also the reason why you chose it. In the comments you can also post some of the other factors that you consider. Perhaps ones that we haven’t even considered yet. Imagine that, we value your input so much that you can change how we review Chinese restaurants.

Inquiring minds want to know!

  1. I want to make sure that I find the right Chinese restaurant. It makes sense that I would want to find one that has good reviews! That way I can ensure that they give good service.

  2. This may sound strange but for me it’s the fried rice I feel that I am forever chasing my past as fried rice is so different today often so dry and flavorless
