The Chinese Quest Finding the best Chinese restaurants on Long Island and NYC

Change is here. Accept it. Stay calm. All is well. What happened? We got a bad aftertaste in our mouths from looking at OUR ranking of Chinese restaurants on Long Island and New York City. Did we reinvent the wheel, or change our secret sauce, err, formula? Not at all. We just chose to make it better, by enhancing it to account for “aftertaste”. To review what we had discussed in a prior article announcing this pending change:
Aftertaste
What is it?
- It could mean that the food was so good that we really want to go back to that Chinese restaurant.
- It could mean that after sleeping on our review / rating, something didn’t quite sit right in our bellies.
- It could mean that since our review, we received comments or suggestions that we missed something (perhaps a signature dish? perhaps the Chef was out that day?)
“Aftertaste” will be the ONLY metric that is fluid and can be altered over time (as a result of the factors mentioned above). Our base rating is static. It can not, and will not, change. It is our first impression. Our gut feeling. You have to trust your first instinct and call it as you see, and taste, it.
So, without further ado, here are the updated ranking of Chinese restaurants that we, The Chinese Quest, have reviewed to date. The best, you know it, we know it, is yet to come!

I agree with the above comment. I have no idea where these restaurants are located…if in NYC, which borough and if in LI, which city. Again, referencing the above comment, it would be great if you could actually supply a link to each restaurant’s web page. While I sincerely appreciate your research and this list, I don’t have the time or inclination to look up each and every restaurant to find one near me. Perhaps you can make these corrections and republish.
We can look at posting a map of the area with push pins where each of the Chinese restaurants are that would include links to our reviews.

Hello, is there a way to list where these restaurants are located (or even link them to their webpages if they have one)? I can’t tell which ones are in NYC versus Long Island, and if they’re in Long Island which city they’re in so I can see if their nearby to where I live. Also it was difficult to read the small type in the spreadsheet image and it seems like we’re unable to expand the image – is there another way to access the information that’s more readable? Thanks!
All great points! Especially about the spreadsheet. I am going to work on that tonight to make it completely legible.
On the Home Page you’ll see a listing of our Top Five Chinese restaurants by region (Nassau County, Suffolk County, and New York City).
There’s also an ordered list on the home page near the bottom that lists the location of each Chinese restaurant, and it’s a hot link to the review we posted.

The map is much easier to see and use, plus I like the link to your review that goes with the pin over the map. I appreciate you incorporating my feedback into your improvements. I don’t have a favorite restaurant in Long Island yet – I lived in Manhattan prior to moving to Long Island and I did enjoy many restaurants there. Congee Village in Chinatown is a favorite with many Asians and Non-Asians alike.
